Taylor still waiting

Running back Fred Taylor woke up Friday morning and saw a report he had signed with the New England Patriots.

That was news to him.

"That isn't true," Taylor said. "I don't know where some of that ----- comes from sometimes."

Taylor did say he is still in discussions with the Patriots, but no deal was done as of 9:30 a.m.

"We’ll see how it goes," he said.

Taylor also visited with the Buffalo Bills this week, and said there are a couple of other teams in the mix. Taylor was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this month after 11 seasons with the team as they move toward a youth movement.

Taylor has two good years left and would certainly be a good addition to the Patriots offense, a veteran back who can run in their spread sets.

I understand that Kevin Faulk is a great RB and everything you guys are saying. Couple of things to remember though.. The Patriots brought in Floyd Reese to oversee personnel descions, so things are gonna be different than what you're used to. The draft is coming up and the Pats really need cap space, they have close to none. Out of the New England runningbacks Faulk stands to hit the cap the hardest this year. By cutting or trading Faulk the Pats would receive about $3.2mil in cap space. Cutting Maroney or Green-Ellis would make little sense as they would only provide about $100,000 of cap space this year, plus they are young guys. And I don't know why you guys keep bringing up LaMont Jordan, he's a free agent...

I'm not sayin' that he's no good or anything like that.. Just don't be suprised if Faulk is a cap casualty this year. The Pat's could even cut him/sign a new contract.

Kevin Faulk is one of the best Patriots ever

Faulk is the man..... in almost every big win by the Pats he made atleast one major clutch play. I all 3 superbowl running he made game saving plays...... 3 down catch against Indy. TD against SD.... ect! Huge role player.....

Kevin Faulk is a 3rd down and long machine.  Also, he is a great trap runner.  I would cut Lawrence maroney and Lamont Jordan before faulk.  He is a borderline hall of fame player.

I'm glad Freddy is gonna be a Patriot. He'll finally get the publicity he deserves, especially when he passes Jim Brown, and he might just win a ring. There shouldn't even be a question whether or not this guy will make it into the hall of fame right now, but hopefully his time with the Pats will propel him to an induction.

paxton was a free agent so no trade involved on that, I think that the team is just trying to get younger on defense by trading vrabel. I think that vrabel has lost a step so I think that it is for the best.

I saw something like this on another thread:

WEEI's reporting that Kansas City may be interested in a package including Mike Vrabel and Matt Cassel, and that the Pats would possibly gain a 1st, 3rd and maybe a 4th rd. draft pick. Also, by trading Vrabel and Cassel, the Pats clear almost $18 million of cap space, which they may use to go after either LBs Jonathan Vilma or Ray Lewis.

They're also reporting that Pats may turn around and offer Carolina the #3 first rounder for Julius Peppers.

Lastly, Lonnie Paxton was traded today to Denver - so there goes our long-snapper!

I can't believe they traded Vrabel. He was the heart and soul of that D. I hope they got a good pick for him. Just heard it so I haven't confirmed it. But we have to believe in Bill! They do have to start getting younger. Most likely setting up for another move. No way Faulk goes. Maroney will go if anyone does. He has some head issues.

Keep an eye on it Pats like to make quick moves with FA!

Mikey we will miss you!
