Charges against Jets: Grand theft

The New York Jets fleeced their former coach Saturday.

That's the only way to describe their move up to land Mark Sanchez. They have their franchise passer. No more broken down, old quarterbacks in New York. Sanchez will be special.

The Jets fans will come to love him. You wait and see.

And all it cost them was three players they can easily afford to lose and a second-round pick. What is Eric Mangini doing in Cleveland?
How many ex-Jets can he accumulate? Doesn't he realize they hated playing for him when he was there?

I do think safety Abram Elam, one of the players Mangini acquired, will be a good player, but they didn't get enough.
Somebody arrest Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum. He committed grand theft Saturday.

You can't say that sanchez is going to be bad because Lienart is bad in the NFL its like saying Colt McCoy is going to suck in the NFL because Vince Young is bad and they both came from Texas. Everyone who said that in this thread is dumb and knows nothing about football. You won't know if this was a good trade until Sanchez actually plays in the NFL. And Kenyon Coleman was the only good player the Browns got out of this deal.

One question Prisco, who is Sanchez going to throw the ball to?  The Jets needed to get more picks.  On day one, the Jets have one pick, and if he does not pan out, it is a big gamble that went bust.  Being a New York quarterback is not much fun when you do not win.  Even Eli was ridiculed in New York, until the Super Bowl, and he went to the playoffs, 3 straight years.
Mangini did a great job here, and I can't stand the little rat.  He is stockpiling players, and when you are a team on the rebuild it is exactly what you should be doing.  That being said, I really did not like the Browns picks on Day 1.
The Browns certainly were not going to draft Sanchez, and they got a backup in Ratliff where they can feel comfortable trading Anderson, should Quinn not work out.  Elam is a decent player as well.
The Jets wanted someone sheik to sell their fans those ridiculous PSLs.  They got that in Sanchez.  I am not sure how good he will be.  The best USC QB in the NFL currently, is a guy who never started a game for USC in Matt Cassel.

The Browns had no buisness dealing their picks away like that. They have a few solid players, but not enough to sit comfortably and trade all their picks away. Robeiski is a solid pick though, and Mack could be a pro bowler like Nick Mangold.

How about this one.......both teams won. Cleveland got players and an extra pick to offset people they've let go and improve in areas and get some depth. New York gets the possibility of a very good quarterback to have for many years. Sure, there is more risk on the Jets side but they really didn't give up any superstars to attempt this. Cleveland got some players and maybe someone they get could be special. They both got what they wanted.

Here's a thought.  What if the Skins really hyped up Sanchez to get people really interested in trading up for him so that there would be a better chance of their top target Orakpo falling to them.  They keep saying that Campbell would've been the starter all along, even if they'd gotten Sanchez.  It would make no sense to trade up for a top 5 pick and then sit him on the bench.  That's probably wishful thinking though.  Haha Dan Snyder doing something clever... that's a good one.

We are talking about Sanchez - the USC darling that couldn't play worth a crap on the road in COLLEGE...

Colin Cowherd nailed it dead to the wall. Sanchez is the sexy guy all the girls want just because other girls want him, not because he's anything special.

Let's take a look at USC QB's over the last few years:

Carson Palmer: Yep, good arm, franchise QB, injury really screwed him up.

Matt Leinart: Currently backing up one of the oldest QB's in the league, and no sign of that changing, even though he had repeated chances to take the starting job.

Matt Cassel: Doesn't count. He never played a down at USC.

John David Booty: Uh..... He backed up one of the WORST starting QB's in the league last year, Tavaris Jackson....

Now, let's get back to Sanchez....

Injuries: Broke his thumb in 2007, dislocated his knee in 2008.

- All-American "Honorable Mention" in 2008 - as in, he wasn't even good enough to MAKE the All-American team - which tells me there were at least two other QB's (one presumably being Stafford) that were better than him.

Stats as starter:

He threw 300+ yards three times in 2008, versus four times where he threw less than 200 yards.

Out of 13 starts (including the Rose Bowl), he only managed 6 where he did not throw an interception. Only two of those were road games.

These are COLLEGE numbers, kids.

If the Jets think he's going to walk in and start against NFL-level defenses, they're in for a long and painful '09-'10 season....

You're the fool, hmm what happened to the last QB out of USC that had to run an NFL offense, oh yeah that's right he's riding the bench behind almost 40 year old Warner... You Jets fans wouldn't know a good pick if it punched you in the face, the best part of the draft is watching the Jets moronic masses cry over their draft picks.... congrats fools enjoy Sanchez, wait how many games does he have under his belt in college?  16?  Another stupid, stupid opinion.
