Falcons save season?

ATLANTA -- You had them buried.

Called their 13-3 season a fraud. You were ready to mock me for picking the Atlanta Falcons to go to the Super Bowl.

They were down 10 points to the Philadelphia Eagles, couldn't deal with the Eagles offensive speed, had an offensive line getting whipped and a quarterback who looked jumpy.

Staring 0-2 in the face, the Falcons got a break. And they got a victory because of it, beating the Eagles 35-31 at the Georgia Dome.

The Falcons won in large part because Mike Vick got hurt.

Vick, the former Falcons quarterback starting in Atlanta for the first time as an opponent, left with his team leading by three and driving to make it 10. They did make it 10, but he never returned.

He left with a neck injury.

The Falcons were rid of their pain in the neck.

And they rallied to prevent an 0-2 start. It wasn't easy, but that's the kind of victory that can keep your big hopes alive.

And keep my Super Bowl pick still a possibility.

Falcons need to do

1/protect Ryan and try to not overused Turner
2/Rodgers as 3rd downs RB or some slot reciever
3/a right guard becuase Reynolds is average
on defense they trust Nichols, and their DBs...i am not sold on them
if Julio and Rod made a good game against the secondary of the Eagles...they can dominate every other team!!!!!
problem...try to buy time for Ryan to find them at least 2-3 times deeply...i don't be sure the OL are able to do

Falcons save season?

Just when I thought you couldn't get more retarded Prisco.
So what you're saying (to sum it up) is that the Falcons will will the rest of their games and win the Super Bowl. But if they lost last night, their season was over and they didn't even had a chance to win a playoff game, let alone get to the playoffs.

Called their 13-3 season a fraud. You were ready to mock me for picking the Atlanta to go to the Super Bowl.

We mock you for much more, believe me.

And they rallied to prevent an 0-2 start. It wasn't easy, but that's the kind of victory that can keep your big hopes alive.

Cause a team that starts 0-2 has absolutely no chance to make the playoffs.

NFC SOUTH if Atlanta lost:

NO 1-1
TB 1-1
CAR 0-2
ATL 0-2

HOLY SHIT PRISCO, THEY WOULDV'E HAD A 0% CHANCE OF WINNING THE DIVISION OR MAKING THE PLAYOFFS IF THEY LOST!!!

Falcons save season?

Falcons aren't afraid to play anybody. They beat the Packers at home last year 20-17 and will play them again at home in 3 weeks. Eagles better worry about there "D" and whose going to play QB. Right now you can't stop the run or a TE. Vince Young will not be your answer.

gldndog,

Lifted their spirits? You've got to be joking?

I agree with the poster who first responded .. this isn't high school football. The players go out with the intent of doing their best 100% of the time and Kafka was very efficient as a passer. Maclin just didn't come through in the clutch .. plain and simple.

If the Eagles were so great , they would have won - but they didn't. Philly fans can't swallow the idea that the "dream team" isn't invincible. Well guess what? You just lost.

2nd .. Something that us Falcon fans know is that Vick carries the ball like a $2 loaf of bread.

You lost the game because of turnovers from Vick in the redzone.

You're not the best team ever essembled. Ask the Miami Heat.

Eagles, Packers are just better

Anyone who watched that game tonight for 4 quarters could see who the better team was.  Stupifying turnovers and stupifying non-challenges from Reid kept Atlanta close but they were getting beat up.  THEN Vick got hurt and this lifted the spirits, believe it or not, of Atlanta's offense.  They knew the Eagles were reeling b/c of his absence and it gave them hope, while also removing the tenacity from the Eagles D, who lean on Vick's presence as their inspiration.  Look at how the Colts D has performed without Manning.  They feel hopeless w/o him and play hopeless w/o him.  When the captain of the ship goes down, his absence takes his shipmates down with him.
Atlanta is just not as good as the Packers or the Eagles and this will be proven as the season wears on.  Those teams are just better and have more talent across the board.  The Eagles arent going to turn the ball over that many times again, nor fail to challenge crucial turnovers that werent turnovers that lead to TD's.

I really dont think the Eagles are scared to play Atlanta in the playoffs, and we know Green Bay isnt.  The Eagles have handled Atlanta the last 3 yrs and outplayed them again today.  I think common consesnus was Atl got lucky today.  They're just not good enough to beat either of these teams when it matters and I think everyone knows it.  And this doesnt even mention the Bears or Saints, both of whom are also probably better than Atlanta.

Falcons save season?

It's too soon to say that.. The defense is a real concern but they could get a lot better on offense.

Falcons save season?

My sentiments exactly. Even the sportswriter picking the falcons is basically a vick butt kisser. How much better could Vick have done than the backup? He capped off the 1st drive w/a TD.  By the way, Vick didn't drive them down the field on that, it was a bad punt. They didn't move it on the next possession and he drove them down the field at the end only to be undone by the dropped pass on 4th down. So not really the QB's fault and as you said Vick was turning the ball over quite a bit.  He still hasn't learned to tuck the ball when he decides to run despite this leading to numerous turn overs in the past.  Vick is not a true winner and will always be exposed when the going gets tough.
